David Outman

Executive Director

David Outman joined Living Lands Trust in 2020 as our first Executive Director, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience at land-centric nonprofits. Prior to Living Lands, David was Executive Director for the Harvard Conservation Trust, and before that, Community Conversation Specialist for The Trustees, a leading Massachusetts’ nonprofit and land trust innovator for more than 100 years.

David's work has included all manner of land protection and stewardship projects, across a wide range of Massachusetts landscapes and geographies: from urban park and community garden creation; to water supply and wildlands protection; to farmland protection and restoration. Other professional experience includes consulting and advisory roles with Earthwatch Institute, an international NGO advancing and promoting care for the Earth, wildlife and culture through citizen-science; and Green City Growers, a certified B-Corp working to foster food system resiliency by expanding growing spaces for urban farms and gardens. Naturally curious, David's interdisciplinary studies in social psychology and environmental science continue to shape his work.
